Nashik (or Nasik) is located in the northwest of Maharashtra state, 200 km from Mumbai
and Pune. It has a population of over 1 million. The temples and ghats on Godavari make Nashik one of the holiest
places for Hindus.
Nashik is a blend of the ancient and the modern, with numerous forts and temples
but also many industrial centres.
